Yimeng Xu is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, studying piano performance under the instruction of Dr. Washington Garcia. She began her musical studies at the age of 5 in China. She was accepted into the prestigious high school attached to the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in Liaoning, where she graduated with honors in 2018.
Yimeng won multiple awards in high school. In college, she won second place at the UNO Concerto Competition 2018-2019 and was selected for the Nebraska Music Teacher Association Thomas Ediger Collegiate Scholarship.
Yimeng began teaching piano lessons during her freshman year of high school in China. She enjoys the whole process of teaching students and makes every effort to cultivate children’s interest in learning music.
